Dell Deal a Day

Dell DealsWe admit it. With the holidays coming on, we almost welcome the fact that things are not great with the economy. It sort of evens out the playing field for those of us that struggle to pay our rent. So we embrace companies who are worried about a slower than normal season and are trying to help themselves by helping us out. Dell’s Deal of the Day is one such example. They are not only offering low prices on their own products, but on other companies’ products as well, although we found the prices of those about equal to those on Amazon.

Find your 2008 Black Friday deals

Black Friday CartoonWe found a great little site dedicated to Black Friday. There over fifty lists from companies that include Circuit City, CompUSA, Office Depot and Radio Shack, with more to come. Looking at Sears’ list, we found such items as a Samsung Disc Player for $199.99, Sharp’s LC26SB24U 26” 720p LCD for $399.99, and the Sony 5-Disc DVD/CD Home Theater System with Upconversion at $249.99, marked down $50.00. Even if we can’t always shop online, it is certainly a plus to be able to check out what is out there ahead of time.

Woot Features Daily Hot Deals

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Hot Deals, Internet, Misc. Tech,

Franklin DictionaryWe admit it. We dig Woot, the Big Lots of the Internet. It’s hard to ignore a site that plays “Let’s Make a Deal” daily and offers electronic gadgets that we never knew we needed until we stumbled onto the site. The catch is that you cannot return the merchandise and when you sober up, you realize that with about 10 dictionaries hanging around the house, you could have done without Franklin’s Dictionary & MP3 Player for about $17.00, even if that cost is less than half its $40.00 retail price. Still, it is worth your time checking it out, as they offer some fun stuff at amazing mark-downs.

  • The TL-56, which is a similar chip that runs at 1.8GHz, dropped from $263 to $220.
  • The TL-52, which runs at 1.6GHz, goes from $220 to $184.
  • On the desktop side of things, the Athlon 64 FX-62, a 2.8GHz monster chip for gamers, declined from $827 to $713.

On the Intel side of things:

  • The Celeron D 360 for desktops went from $84 to $69, an 18 percent decline.
